Nylon machining - Polyamide machining

Machined nylon parts from Ensinger

Polyamide, often referred to simply as nylon, is often used as a metal substitute due to its property profile and light weight. Since PA plastic tends to absorb water and thus changes its dimensions, this typical PA property must be taken into account when designing polyamide components.
Regardless of the tolerance requirements or whether a fibre reinforced nylon is to be machined, Ensinger has the right solutions in terms of parameters and tools. Thanks to our broad base of equipment, we have suitable machines for nylon CNC machining in the areas of polyamide turning (nylon turning) and polyamide milling (nylon milling) for a wide range of component geometries.

Machining Nylon - PA plastic for machining

The machinablity of nylon varies depending on the type of nylon used. For example, there are differences between machining the hard nylon 6 and 66 versus the machining of the more soft and flexible PA12. Thanks to the extensive experience of our team, we are able to machine any type while maintaining high quality. Even machining glass filled nylon offers little challenge. We are able to machine nylon components from the following modified polyamides:
TECAMID 12 natural
TECAST L yellow
TECAMID 6 FRT black
TECAMID 6 ID blue
TECAMID 66 GF30 black
TECAMID 6 FRT natural

In addition to the polyamide stock shapes listed above, injection molded PA blanks or individual PA profiles and PA tubes can also be machined.
Our qualified team will be happy to advise you on this in order to find the most efficient material and process for your application!
