PK plastic - Polyketone

Polyketone plastic is a tough, semi crystalline thermoplastic with an alternating structure of carbon monoxide and ethene or propene. The use of carbon monoxide as a monomer results in a plastic with a particularly favourable CO2 balance.
The molecular structure of the PK polymer enables a high degree of crystallisation. PK material therefore has exceptionally high toughness, good wear resistance and very good chemical resistance. The pure carbon backbone also provides excellent hydrolysis resistance.

PK properties

Polyketone properties include the following characteristics

  • High impact strength
  • Two to three times higher impact strength than PA and PBT
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • High resistance to fuels, hydrogen, salts and acid bases
  • Excellent wear resistance
  • High wear resistance compared to POM and solves noise problems in the application
  • Reduced cycle times and increased productivity in manufacturing (as polyketone crystallises comparatively quickly during injection molding)

  • Automotive industry
  • Oil and gas industry
  • Chemical industry
