The casting of nylon is a thermoplastic technology that has been around for many years. It is produced by the chemical reaction that takes place when activated caprolactam is poured into heated molds that allow an exothermic polymerisation to take place. While this technology is not new, Ensinger has developed an automated system for producing cast nylon sheets that is unequalled in the thermoplastic industry. This process allows us to offer a variety of cast nylon modifications in many thicknesses from 0.25 mm thick cast nylon plates up to 127 mm thick. It also accounts for our cast nylon material to exhibit very low stress and high dimensional stability.
Information regarding standard stocked cast nylon plates can be found on individual product detail pages.
