Cast Nylon - Cast Polyamide

Cast polyamide, usually of the polyamide 6 type, is also known as cast nylon 6 or PA 6 C. Cast nylon is a high molecular weight, highly crystalline polymer. Cast nylon type 6 is produced by a casting process, whereby the raw material caprolactam polymerises through a controlled chemical reaction. This process results in low waste and short production times.

By using additives such as oil, solid lubricants or thermal stabilisers, the typical properties of cast nylon materials can be specifically adjusted for certain applications, resulting in a tailored range of materials for a wide range of applications.

In addition, cast polyamide 6 material is an ideal material for replacing metal due to its fatigue resistance, noise damping, corrosion resistance and light weight. PA 6 C is also easier to maintain and handle than metals such as iron, aluminum, brass and bronze. The property profile of PA 6 C is rounded out by its high crystallinity compared to extruded polyamide.

Cast Nylon rod, Tube and plate - Manufactured Cast Nylon shapes

Ensinger is a cast nylon manufacturer and supplier and offers materials in the form of cast nylon plates, rods and tubes. PA6 C rods are available in diameters from  50 up to 500 mm. Sizes for plates start at 0,25 thick and up to 127 mm.

PA 6 C material modifications are manufactured by Ensinger under the brand name TECAST. The Ensinger TECAST family offers the following cast polyamide modifications:
