Sustainability is increasingly becoming the focus of business. At Ensinger, this topic has been important to us for years. One example of how sustainability can be implemented in a plastics company comes from our injection molding site in Rottenburg-Ergenzingen.
Sustainability in production and sustainability in products.
In our blog, we would like to present our progress in this area in two parts. We start with sustainability in and around production.
The area around our production facility is also important to us. For example, together with NABU e.V., we have developed planting concepts for the outside area that allow us to create areas that are close to nature. Bird boxes on the roof for swifts serve as a refuge for the birds, while a wildflower meadow provides a home for native insects.
These areas are also available for our employees to enjoy their lunch break together or to catch a few rays of sunshine after work.
We are committed to making our manufacturing operations more resource efficient. This starts with effective production planning and control, which always takes into account optimal energy efficiency in addition to meeting our customers' needs. It allows us to start up and run our machines in a targeted manner, avoid unnecessary standby operation, and optimize our machinery. The result is a significant reduction in energy consumption, especially over the weekend.
We attach great importance to energy-efficient production facilities. To this end, we continuously monitor the energy consumption of our equipment and the entire process chain and have set ourselves ambitious targets. Our systems are constantly being optimised and are becoming increasingly energy efficient.
In addition, we obtain a portion of our energy from renewable sources and are continuously increasing this, with the goal of generating up to 100% of our electricity from renewable sources.
As a company, Ensinger has set itself the goal of making an active contribution to environmental protection. This is reflected in our corporate values, our sustainability report and our certified environmental management system.
