TECACOMP PP HTE PW black 1014974
Powder for the production of bipolar plates in the hot pressing process
Fuel cells enable emission-free energy conversion and can be an innovative and sustainable alternative to combustion engines. Ensinger has been developing very highly filled thermoplastics for use in bipolar plates for fuel cell stacks for many years.
TECACOMP PP HTE black 1014974 in powder form is a plastic modified with high purity graphite for processing by hot pressing. This manufacturing method enables very high electrical conductivity to be achieved. The Ensinger formulations based on polypropylene (PP) are suitable, for example, for use in low-temperature fuel cells (PEMFC) or in redox flow batteries.
The base polymer of the compounds is characterised by very good chemical resistance, low density, low creep properties and good stress crack resistance. The filler graphite enables the setting of a very high electrical and thermal conductivity.
The compound formulation in powder form with a special particle size distribution is developed for a manufacturing process using the HCC method. The material has been validated by the Centre for Fuel Cell Technology (ZBT GmbH) for use in fuel cells.
