TECACOMP POM ID blue 1055303
POM-C compound for tribological applications in the food industry
Polyoxymethylene copolymer (POM-C, also known as polyacetal) is characterised by excellent sliding and friction values with good strength and rigidity. These properties are retained over a wide temperature range, from -50 °C to 100 °C. Operating temperatures up to 140 °C are also possible for short periods. Good visibility and detectability are achieved by adding colour additives and metal-based filler.
The grey-blue TECACOMP POM ID blue 1055303 with Ensinger detection level Mid (tested by RONDOTEST) is optimised for use in the food industry in accordance with FDA and EU 10/2011. Abrasion or fragments can be reliably identified and sorted out by inductive metal and X-ray detectors. For detection tests, Ensinger offers sample plates (80 x 80 x 3 mm), tensile test rods and a detection kit.
The compound is often used for tribological-mechanical applications, e.g. for guides and stops, rollers, sliding elements, link chains or conveyor belts. It is also used to make moulds that can be hot-filled or freeze-dried. The low moisture absorption and good hydrolysis and chemical resistance also make the material interesting for use in wet environments that are often cleaned.
