TECATEC PEI GF50 S296 CP/IP/OS V01 natural
POLYETHERIMIDE REINFORCED WITH 50 VOL% GLASS FIBRES
A characteristic of the amorphous plastic polyetherimide (PEI) is its high heat resistance, which allows it to be used permanently from -50 °C to 180 °C, and up to 200 °C for short periods. PEI composite is therefore often chosen when polycarbonate components would reach their thermal load limits.
The high mechanical strength and fracture toughness of the thermoplastic are additionally reinforced with 50 vol% continuous glass fibres in a satin weave. TECATEC PEI GF50 S296 natural has a thermal expansion of 10-6 K-1 and has high dimensional stability and creep resistance, which is particularly appreciated in mechanical engineering.
The PEI-based fibre composite material is also used in the chemical industry. It absorbs only a small amount of moisture and is therefore resistant to superheated steam and hydrolysis. The semipregs (CP) and prepregs (IP) manufactured by Ensinger can also be processed into multi-layer organic sheets (OS) and panels up to 95 mm thick (TECATEC PEI GW50 PL natural). TECATEC PEI GF50 S296 natural is also available with a twill weave fabric with an areal weight of 280 g/m2.
