TECATEC PEI GF50 S296 CP/IP/OS FR V01 black
BLACK PIGMENTED PEI COMPOSITE ACCORDING TO FAR25.873
Means of mass transportation have some of the highest demands on fire safety of the materials used. With the glass fibre reinforced composite based on polyetherimide (PEI), Ensinger offers a lightweight, electrically non-conductive and high strength material alternative to metal.
In accordance with the requirements of FAR 25.873, the composite plastic is flame retardant and self-extinguishing with low toxic smoke emission.
The composite material, which can be used permanently in a wide temperature range from -50 °C to 180 °C and briefly up to 200 °C, is available in a black pigmented (black) or naturally amber (TECATEC PEI GF50 S296 FR natural) colour. It is used, for example, for ventilation pipes or semi-structural components.
Ensinger manufactures semipregs (CP) and fully impregnated prepregs (IP) based on continuous glass fibre satin fabric, which are processed into multi-layer organosheets (OS) up to 1270 mm wide.
These can be thermally formed into components characterised by high fracture toughness, mechanical strength and stiffness.
