Medical plastics machining

The machining of medical plastics & fibre composites (MT) into plastic medical components requires the highest level of know-how and perfect processes. Due to our many years of experience in the medical machining industry, we are ideally prepared for the various requirements and applications. A broadly positioned and highly automated machine park with various robot systems ensures efficient cnc medical machining and meets the high requirements of the industry. In addition, our numerous options for reworking, from blasting the parts with a wide range of blasting media to assembly under clean room conditions, enable us to offer an end-to-end process that meets the highest quality requirements.

Safety first!

Ensinger offers everything from a single source with the many upstream and downstream process steps. From the raw material to the ready-to-use finished part, we cover the entire value chain, which increases flexibility and at the same time enables complete traceability. With regard to the MDR (Medical device regulation), Ensinger offers its customers an ideal overall package.
With certification according to DIN EN ISO 13485 and registration with the FDA, validated facilities and qualified processes, as well as a clean room classified according to DIN ISO 14644-1 class 7 (operation) or ISO 6 (idle), Ensinger offers safety for customers and patients.

Without compromise - one-stop shop for machined medical parts

Due to the close networking with the other Ensinger production areas, we offer a fully comprehensive portfolio for the medical industry. Ensinger Medical Grade (MT) materials from our in-house compounding are used in the form of classic plates, round rods and hollow rods or also completely product-specific profiles as a starting point for CNC machining into finished medical plastic components.
In order to minimise material consumption in the case of larger requirements or extremely complex component geometries, it is also possible to finish the injection moulded blanks from Ensinger Injection moulding by machining.
Our staff will be happy to advise you on the best way to produce your medical part.

Solutions for medical technology

  • Plastic materials within the Ensinger MED- / MT-standard-portfolio are tested according to ISO 10993 pursuant to their intended use, preferably on the product. They fulfil the requirements specified in the respective test. However, the evaluation of biocompatibility can also be completely adapted to the customer's individual needs.
  • A wide range of medical devices such as surgical instruments can be reused after intensive cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation. Ensinger Medical Grade (MED / MT) materials have good chemical resistance and excellent sterilisation resistance to common processes.
  • In many procedures, X-ray images support the verification of the exact positioning of the medical device, such as the trial implant in a joint operation. The Ensinger Medical Grade (MED / MT) portfolio therefore includes special X-ray opaque XRO types, which allow a precise view of the instruments during image-guided interventions.
  • The increasing number of operations and surgical procedures demand increasingly effective instruments that are light in handling. Ensinger Medical Grade (MT) materials have a low specific weight, which leads to significant weight savings compared to metal instruments.
  • In global competition, differentiation through colour corporate branding is of increasing importance. The colour differentiation of different versions or sizes of medical products is also increasingly done through a corresponding colour scheme. The Ensinger Medical Grade (MT) portfolio includes a range of materials with a variety of different colours.

Medical parts machining applications

Typical CNC medical parts are trial implants in the field of orthopaedics, ocular funnels for endoscopy, handles and cutlery for surgery, but also a wide variety of units made of high-performance plastics, which are used in devices or systems (for example in computer tomography). We also manufacture targeting and fixation systems made of composites.
All these applications have the highest requirements in terms of tolerances and optics of the medical plastic components but are extremely demanding to manufacture due to the most varied machining behaviour of the materials, but Ensinger is your perfect partner in the field of medical technology thanks to its broad portfolio and many years of experience.
