Polyamide 66 (also Nylon 66 or PA66) is a largely universally applicable thermoplastic that is stiffer, stronger and more temperature resistant than polyamide 6. Reinforced with a fabric of electrically non conductive continuous glass fibres, the PA66 composite is characterised by very good mechanical properties and high abrasion resistance at low cost.
Ensinger produces TECATEC PA66 GF43 T280 black as semipreg (CP) and prepreg (IP) in widths of up to 1270 mm. Multi-layer organosheets (OS) and plates and sheets (PL) with a thickness of up to 95 mm are also produced in-house (TECATEC PA66 GW43 PL natural).
TECATEC PA66 GF43 T280 black is used in many ways in the automotive industry and in mechanical engineering. The sports equipment industry and the oil and gas sector also make frequent use of glass fibre reinforced nylon 66.
The stiffer, electrically conductive alternative is carbon fibre reinforced PA66 (TECATEC PA66 CF50 T200 natural).
