Our compound based thermoplastic bipolar plates offer material specific benefits such as long life, recyclability and process improvements. The use of powder pressing instead of conventional forming processes allows greater design freedom for both the anode and cathode sides, as well as for the design of the cooling channels. This enables the realisation of individual flow field structures and contributes to improved performance of the end application through optimised flow distribution. Working closely with our customers, we develop application-specific bipolar plate designs with short prototype development times and seamless scalability to volume production. From material development to production, we enable flexible, efficient and high performance solutions for industrial applications. All the benefits at a glance:
  • We develop our TECACOMP HTE compounds directly in-house - by selecting precisely fitting raw materials, we produce compounds that are specially tailored to the high requirements of bipolar plates.
  • Our manufacturing process allows us to customise both the front and back of the anode and cathode side. This allows us to realise completely individual flow field designs.
  • The material homogeneity resulting from our optimised compounding process improves heat dissipation within the cell, minimising local hotspots and increasing thermal homogeneity. This leads to increased performance and a longer service life of the fuel cells, electrolysis stacks or redox flow batteries.
  • Close collaboration with customers allows bipolar plates to be tailored to specific application conditions. 
  • Scalable manufacturing technologies enable the production of prototypes to series with reproducible quality.
  • Thermoplastic bipolar plates offer high chemical resistance and are not susceptible to oxidation compared to metallic alternatives. In addition, our bipolar plates are recyclable, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint.
