Composite Engineering & Parts

Components made of fibre-reinforced thermoplastics offer maximum stiffness and strength combined with low weight. However, the design and manufacture of such composite components requires a broad knowledge of materials, processes and dimensioning.

At Ensinger, we have many years of experience in the design, development and manufacture of components made from fibre-reinforced thermoplastics for a wide range of industries. Our development activities include fibre-compatible design, material selection, mechanical simulation, prototyping and mechanical testing. Depending on the requirements, we develop new manufacturing processes and the corresponding automation. Our wide range of processes allows us to produce semi-finished products, blanks for further processing as well as finished parts or entire assemblies.

Depending on customer and component requirements, we select the most suitable processing technology for thermoplastic composites. If necessary, new manufacturing processes for composite engineering are developed and tested. At Ensinger, we manufacture prototype components for test purposes using tools, machines and processes that are close to series production. Whether it's a few parts to prove feasibility or a small series from a production tool, we have the necessary resources to meet all customer requirements.

Customers benefit from Ensinger's expertise in the development of composite parts with customised processes, composite materials and procedures. Together with the customer, our engineers optimise the part for composite production and adapt the materials and processes to the customer's specifications.

With more than 50 years of experience in high-performance engineering plastics and over 15 years in composite engineering, we can help you choose the right combination of polymers and fibres for any application. The portfolio of matrix materials ranges from standard and engineering plastics to semi-crystalline and amorphous high-performance polymers. Reinforcing fibres can be selected from most available fibre materials and qualities.

After successful development, series production takes place at an Ensinger production site or at the customer's premises. We have developed a wide range of composite manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements such as geometrically complex components, short cycle times or automation. Our core processes enable us to achieve economic advantages for small as well as large series.

Ensinger has several locations that are specialized in the machining of composite materials. Therefore, even the machining, finishing and assembly of parts and components can be done in-house.
