PTFE filled PEEK is a material that exhibits extremely good sliding and wear properties. Ensinger manufactures this material under the trade name TECAPEEK TF10 blue, using Victrex® PEEK 450G polymer. This PEEK product is often used in the food industry due to its good mechanical, thermal and chemical properties. It is suitable for food contact. It is through the addition of 10% PTFE to the PEEK polymer, that the material obtains its low friction characteristics. It also has a low tendency to abrade counter surfaces, even when parts are subjected to temperatures between 100°C and 260°C. The PEEK-PTFE composite can be offered in blue or natural color. The blue pigment additive used in PEEK TF is found to be successful for use in food plants that use optical detection equipment for food particulate inspection.
