TECAMID 66 CF20 black
PA 66 filled with 20% carbon fibres
PA 66 CF20 is a 20% carbon fibre reinforced PA 66 that Ensinger manufactures under the trade name TECAMID 66 CF20 black. Its fibre reinforcement brings about increased rigidity, mechanical strength and creep strength, coupled with lower density and lower percentage of filler in comparison with 30% fibre filled PA 66 GF30. In addition to these properties, the carbon filled nylon is less abrasive than a glass filled nylon, and at the same time results in better sliding properties. Through the addition of carbon fibres, a significantly higher heat conductivity is achieved, ensuring fast dissipation of frictional heat which can also be beneficial for sliding applications.
Carbon fibre reinforced nylon has no defined surface resistivity as the carbon fibres are chosen primarily for reinforcement, not for electrical activity. PA 66 with carbon fibre reinforcement tends to become very brittle with high filler content (e.g. PA 66-CF30), so the 20% carbon reinforcement has been found to strike a very good balance between strength and toughness.
